Cedarcrest Medical Center Earns Regional Distinction for Patient Safety

HARLOW FALLS, PA — Cedarcrest Medical Center has been awarded an “A” grade for patient safety by the Keystone Patient Safety Council, a nonprofit organization that evaluates hospitals nationwide on their ability to protect patients from preventable errors, injuries, and infections.

The distinction places Cedarcrest Medical Center among the top-performing hospitals in Pennsylvania for the spring 2026 reporting cycle. The rating is based on more than two dozen measures of process, structure, and outcomes data, including infection rates, surgical complications, and hospital staffing.

“An ‘A’ grade doesn’t happen by accident — it is the result of thousands of small decisions our staff make correctly, every shift, every day,” said Dr. Harold Ansley, Chief Medical Officer. “This recognition belongs to every nurse, physician, technician, and support staff member in this building.”

Cedarcrest Health has now earned an “A” or “B” grade from the Council in nine consecutive reporting cycles. CEO J. Thomas Weller said the consistency reflects a sustained institutional commitment to safety improvement.

“We don’t chase a grade — we chase getting it right for the patient in front of us,” Weller said. “The grade is simply confirmation that our teams are doing that, day in and day out.”
