Cedarcrest Medical Center Emergency Department Nurse Named DAISY Award Recipient
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — June 11, 2026 — Harlow Falls, PA
HARLOW FALLS, PA — Cedarcrest Medical Center has announced that Emergency Department nurse Carol Ann Dressler, RN, BSN, is the recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a national recognition program that honors the exceptional clinical skill and compassionate care nurses provide every day.
Dressler, who has worked in the Cedarcrest Medical Center Emergency Department for eleven years, was nominated by the family of a patient she cared for during a lengthy overnight stay in the ED. In the nomination letter, the family described how Dressler stayed past the end of her shift to comfort the patient and coordinate with specialists, going well beyond her assigned duties.
“Carol Ann embodies everything this award stands for,” said Diane Hutzler, RN, MSN, Chief Nursing Officer for Cedarcrest Health. “She sees patients not as cases but as people, and that compassion comes through in every interaction. Our nurses do difficult, demanding work around the clock, and it means so much when a family takes the time to recognize that.”
Dressler was honored in a surprise ceremony on the Emergency Department floor, attended by hospital leadership, coworkers, and her family. She received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved sculpture titled “A Healer’s Touch,” presented to DAISY honorees nationwide.
“Recognitions like this remind all of us why we do this work,” said CEO J. Thomas Weller. “Carol Ann represents the very best of Cedarcrest Health, and we are proud to celebrate her.”
